This mix was inspired by a Sunday I recently had wondering around the streets of LA. After shooting a series of pics across LA
a young kid walked up to me and told me “Jesus loves you“. It was an innocent gesture that was moving. It was so moving
that I went back home and went through loads of new music and decided to put together a new mix for the month of April
fresh after celebrating 34 years on Earth. I hope you enjoy these records. The Obol remix of the Stevie classic is so dam fresh!

is a smooth heater as well. Ana Tijoux and Homeboy Sandman are killing 2012 on the Hip hop front. Lee Bannon and Tall Black Guy keep
killing it on the producer front. Bondax are some great producers out of the UK that Im very curious about. Last but not least, Part Time Heroes
kill the final song of this mix w/ Holy. Moody, soulful and just on point. Hope you enjoy this mix. A bit sloppy but magic of the moment.

Dj CAM – SWIM (ANTHONY VALADEZ MEGAMIX)
So honored to be asked by Dj Cam to do a mix of his latest single “Swim” from his forthcoming projects which
includes a an EP and an album. I have always been inspired by his ability to transcend genres from his early
boom bap french beats to a new platform of new musical ideas. I was about 17 years old when I first purchased his records.
The beats took me to a different place. There was nothing like it at the time. When he agreed to come on to my KCRW show
I was watching this man who had help me develop my appreciation of music mix right before my eyes. That night was an honor.
And the honors continue.
To help promote the single here is a quick mix of all remixes of the track from the likes of Blackjoy, Nick Cooke and Conforce
with vocal duties from Chris James of Stateless. Reworking an artist’s original is always tough. But when Cam hit me back
saying he loved it, well, my day got a lot better.

BELLERUCHE X ANTVALA (MIX)
Very few bands can manage to create soul, house, dance rhythms, jazzy compositions, and electronic tracks while still carrying credibility the way London-based trio Belleruche does. Whether it’s band member DJ Modest taking a sloppy break beat or Ricky Fabulous summoning the spirit of the south on guitar, the instrumentation is always crisp and clean with the accompaniment of the soft and lush vocals of Kathrin Deboer.
I first came across Belleruche when I encountered one of their limited 7” records. I was drawn to the art work. Simple minimal graphics with the name Belleruche written in eye-catching red. Whenever a band releases a 7” on vinyl, as a DJ you understand that this must be some serious music from some serious music makers who still believe in vinyl.The track I laid the needle on was “Bird Mess” and I was instantly drawn to the horns, the drum break and the floaty vocals. Ever since, I’ve been hooked on Belleruche.
On the new album 270 Stories, their third full-length release, tracks like “Bobby” drift away from the samples and horns of the early Belleruche and take you into the future of minimalism. “Cat in A Dog Suit” channels the starkness of vintage Portishead and perfectly captures Belleruche’s self-styled brand of handmade hip-hop blues soul. The band’s recent b-side cover of The English Beat’s “Mirror In The Bathroom” has gained much attention, and was one of the tracks that struck both myself and KCRW DJ Chris Douridas with its amazingly catchy reinterpretation, dub feel and heavy plucked bass line. To this day the band has not stopped exploring various genres of music. They continue to grow and capture the beauty of music in a way that is not only unique but fitting to any atmosphere.
