Peace all. Forgive the lack of blogging as of late. Although im sure no one is geeky enough to want to check this blog 3 times a day.  Ive been working on some amazing remixes which Im not sure I can announce but one of em is for a Grammy Award winning band.  Ive been sitting the in lab reworking kicks and snares nonstop for the past 4 days.  Last night I got in from a gig last night and worked till 5 am on this amazingly beautiful mix and cant wait to share it with you all.

Speaking of last night!! So great to see so many folks from back in the day under one roof.  Always a pleasure to rock Lalah’s Birthday jump off. Also congrats on her first Grammy nomination as well.  She is an amazing talented vocalist (I wonder where she gets it from?) but just the kindest soul ever!    But my face dropped when I saw the homie Kimmie Kim with a loompah loompah in her belly.  Love her so much and such a positive spirit!  Another LA gem!

Thats it folks. Back to the lab. If you dont see updates, just know something is brewing in the lab!

Interesting night.  Came in with a certain mindset and direction but due to minor technical difficulties my energy was then transferred into a new direction but another great night of record sharing.  Thanks for the emails! From Puerto Rico to Alaska, London to Howard University. UK songstress Ella Montclare came through for lunch today in Venice for lunch at my favorite Italian Spot.  Had a good time  chopping it up about her forthcoming album.   Tomorrow she leaves to San Francisco to work with Dan The Automator.   I loved how I got squeezed in between Dan and Russell Simmons who she met with yesterday! Really?   We talked about London, LA, food and marketing strategy’s for what looks to be  a great album.

She is a positive vocalist getting her feet with both the artistic and business side of this industry but with so much energy.  Ill be sure to support her music on KCRW so make sure to check her out at her myspace page.  Also her video looks incredible.  Be on the look out for her work as well as her collabo’s with Dan The Automater in 2010!

I keep raving about this dude to folks. Young dude from St Louis who came to LA to pursue music. Real humble dude with nonstop southern quotes and cliches. Sometimes making them up out of nowhere.  He plays keys with Shafiq Husayn and fingers crossed they open for E Badu!  Also check out his group Hawthorne Headhunters consisting of him, Black Spade and Proh Mic.   One of his joints was remixed by Osunlade and featured on BBC’s Benji B’s Deviation show.     Peep him on keys during this Shafiq session + interview at bottom of this post.

Yesterday we spent the day working on new music as well as something very special I dont think Im allowed to state yet but excited about.  Then headed to Mao’s Kitchen for dinner.

I keep telling folks Andreya Triana is the truth. We heard her over Fly Lo’s Tea Leaf Dancers and now she is working with Bonobo on her full length debut. Had no clue this one was written by Fink!  Peep this cool video for her “Lost Where I Belong” song.

I felt the need to create something. Woke up inspired and doodled on photoshop all morning and came up with this.

Last week I was hustling on the computer attempting to step up my graphic design game and decided to listen to some old cassettes while doing so and came across the already posted interviews with Bobbito Garca (aka Dj Cucumber Slice), Dudley Perkins, Aloe Blacc, Exile, Blu and friends and then just came across this hilarious interview I did with Pigeon John back in 2005.

Pigeon John is the definition of an “underground emcee” but with the comedic genius of a Richard Pryor or George Carlin.  Witty, fast, talented and full of love, this brother is worth checking out when he comes to your town.   But seriously, be prepared to laugh your ass off. I did while revisiting this interview.
