I had the pleasure of watching this man record some sessions one day with The Park. The way I shoot is I just simply feel out the artist’s energy, vibe and hit record. Sometimes I don’t. Derek said “just shoot” but I was never sure if Darondo was down for a camera in his face. Darondo became more welcoming with his one liners and laugh. Every laugh exposed a few missing teeth but a warm and loving heart. I just found out Darondo passed and it made me want to unearth this session. Every time D opened his mouth it was Church mixed with that 9th grade heart break. He will be missed.
