ON MY MIND KING MOST

It’s been a good month for my band LOS GIRLS. We dropped our Ep on Plug Research, became Today’s Top Tune on Morning Becomes Eclectic and now we get a remix/refix/re-direction from one of our favorite dj’s!  King Most steps up to the plate with this up tempo heater which features Jason Joseph on vocals. You can hear this awesome podcast I did with Most or you can grab the original EP here.  Nick Rosen and I just kinda vibes, brought in a cello, guitar, bass, mpc, shakers kick drums and hit record on this project which we are super proud of.

It’s out! This project took months and months to make but it was also the easiest project to created with Nick Rosen. This project began as I started work on my second album for Plug Research and I would have these incredible sessions with Nick. We would record 2-3 songs a day then we would have downtime. We began starting songs from scratch, go grab coffee, return and hit record. Sometimes we would take a dip in the pacific in between takes.  We were under the assumption this might be a great project to release ourselves so we would record with no rules, no structure and no idea where this might land. We involved our friends Derek Taylor (drums and percussions) and Jason Joseph (rhodes) to contribute and slowly the songs began to take form.  I took off for a week to NY and I began capturing these sounds with my I phone from Subways, art exhibitions in the Bowery and chopping them up and placing them through out the EP.  A week later Hurricane Sandy would strike these very locations and I wondered what has become of these places.  LOS GIRLS also became a visual project with the help of Kim and Xochil. We would all wander the streets of East LA and just capture things happening! Life in the process with the LOS GIRLS music as a bed.  We hope you dig!

LOS GIRLS ON ITUNES

Night one was awesome! I got there early enough to catch some of the energy and bump into my dude Roy Choi!  Great ceremonies by the local Martial Arts group, unveiling of the Bruce Lee statue and many cool vendors and live performances presented by the LA Weekly.  It was awesome to see so many friends come out and get down with us on a Saturday evening!  KG arrived and we just cranked it up a few notches only to blow the power towards the end of our set. Apologies! Somehow we managed to get everyone in the plaza to partake in a massive group hug! But once all systems were go again Liza Richardson took over and it was back to the dancing!  We still have a couple more community gatherings left including the Skirball, The Hammer Museum and the screening and 30th Anniversary of Style Wars in Hollywood! Stay close to the blog for more info!

It’s the end of Valachella. Where everyone that did not make it out to Indio ends up at the weekend residencies.  LATIDO at Cana Rum Bar is always a great way to kick off the weekend. Chill with the Salsero’s doing their thing. Friday was nice at The Goods at Zanzibar. Not like our usual “rah rah” vibes but nice to switch up the pace of things.  The wrap up at Sayers was the climax. Panties exposed, folks falling to the deck, ladies dancing on couche. Typical Saturday night and most importantly saw lots of fam in the building. Hope to see you next weekend!  Get some rest!

Ive been sitting on this one for two days. Did the chops and it felt empty till I threw in the synths. By day two I added the breaks and different parts as well as using samples from different pro tool sessions I am working on. Just finished an EP (Cant say anything about that yet) and working on my new record which is sounding incredible!!) But back to the remix… The original is flawless but I wanted to have it hang on a Venice Beach vibe. Hope you dig! And its a free download! Grab it! Enjoy it!
