This week we celebrate the posthumous Circles album by Mac Miller who was a big KCRW fan.  Circles finds the rapper transition into his Randy Newman (and sadly final) phase of journey with assistance from Jon Brion. Elsewhere Amsterdam’s Full Crate has a new single featuring Naomi Sharon plus Chassol out of Paris, Monsune, BK’s Theophilus London, Common gets remixed by Tom Misch and a new heater from Gothenberg’s sir WAS. We also highlight the sounds and connections between the recent passing of Jimmy Heath and NAS + DJ SHADOW. Wheeew! What a Sunday it was at UCLA for the Jazz Reggae Fest. The temperature was just right as folks began to enter for the long haul of great artists such as Grouch and Eligh, Jhene Aiko, Common, Santigold and has.  I kicked things off with an obvious Roy Ayers classic to kick off the festival. My man Thurz held down mic duties.  This is one of my favorites spots to play records at. Folks seriously move to just about anything!  Special appreciation to the folks who made this all happen and of course all the great folks who came out and brought some great energy to this year’s show! I managed to get some great shots. Hope you dig!
