I spend way too much time searching for music, clothing and gadgets on the net and often come across things I want to share. I try consolodate a lot of what I find into these posts. We are on Volume 6! Get to know of a few of my favorite musical gems + fashion brands.

I’m yet to get a feel in regards to the clothing but I do love the philosophy behind their brand. I also dig how they incorporate the inspiration of NYC and it’s dirty and f$&*ked up ways into their philosophy. It’s quite an inspirational video in how they developed their product and turning down a deal with Urban Outfitters. Peep the vid and check out their shop!

I dig Hiroki’s perspective of fashion and longevity. At 35 I have come to realize that If I purchase something to wear I need to be able to pull it out of the closet 10 years later or else I am not purchasing it. Check them out.

This is a great Roy Ayers cover by Reginald Omas Mamode IV. He’s another Monday night favorite on my radio show. A very mysterious musical figure with a great soul edge to his work complete with crisp drums and samples.

The whole concept of making a statement with what you are wearing is hit on the head via Co-founder Ouigi Theodore Of Brooklyn Circus. I love this shop up on the Bay Area. They understand the importance of communication via the net in understanding of business owners caring about their customers. Get hip to them!

Big up King Deluxe for passing this my way. I have played several cuts from Segilola on my show. Bambooman is behind the production and creates one of the of the coolest sounds!

I just recorded a session for Boston’s WBUR/Here and Now and included this version in my selections. I mean, how amazing and beautiful is this track stripped down and in an acoustic arrangement? The Disclosure version hits hard but this takes the holy cake. Sam Smith really does his thing on the chorus accompanied by the strings.

Went into this session with a case of the Mondays. Over slept and was not as prepared as I wanted to be. But for the first time I figured this show would be a magic of the moment and it turned out to be a fun session. Broke out some of the vinyl towards the end of the set. New newness from all over! Im digging this new Joey Bada$$ that dropped a few weeks back. Also big love to Kae (Italy), Christoff El Truento (New Zealand), Jazzy Sport (Japan) and GDNA out of LA for sending me some great work directly into my inbox. Also this new Skin Town record just dropped and played a couple cuts off the amazing album from the LA duo. Speaking of LA newness from Jo Def off the Soulection label and Souleance comes with it bringing some nice heat out of Paris. This new Arcade Fire is slowly growing on me. It’s a fun record and the lead single is definitely a banger with the tints of the James Murphy sound.  And peep the new Bosq track getting remixed by Tall Black Guy! It was a great way to cap up a gorgeous day in LA. Since her show at the El Rey was sold out I knew my last hope would be the free in store at Amoeba. Jessie did about 4-5 songs and thankfully all the ones I loved! Her album “Devotion” has been on repeat for the past couple months including selections off her EP. But it was the Disclosure remix of Runnin that hold me sold on Ms. Ware!  So great to see music lovers in the building. Big thanks to Gazoo at Amoeba for the front row access!  You can also check out Jessie and the band on Morning Becomes Eclectic on Wednesday, 23rd of January during the 11 am hour on KCRW!
