This is amazing! I came across this great promo clip provided by Guinness which was shot sometime between 2013-2014. These gentleman, despite all the conflict in the region, break out their threads and keep their spirits high. The short clip reminded me a bit of the 80’s doc “Paris is Burning“. Despite their circumstances, the rise and create unity through fashion. Peep!
Shoefiti? Warnings to cops? Drug houses? Urban decay? Memorials to those lost in the neighborhood? Ive heard it all. Not sure if there is a single solid answer as to why sneakers hang from powerlines but it seems every time I take a stroll around DTLA, Venice or visiting Brooklyn, Paris or the Chi, I have always seen a pair kicks hanging. This great short clip explains the various myths. And it’s well done! Watch!
I just saw this trailer before checking out Act of Killing and want to see this so bad! Kind of reminds me of the doc on Bill Cunningham that came out a few years back. I mean seriously, I just want to hug this couple so hard! It’s playing at the Nuart in a couple of weeks! Ill be there!
Fresh out the theatre with a review of the much discussed doc “The Act Of Killing” which explores the characters involved in the mid 60’s extermination of communists and Chinese community living in Indonesia by paramilitary thugs and gangsters. Also discussed is the Anthony Weiner fiasco. Let me know your thoughts! Reach out on twitter at @anthonyvaladez.
