This weekend’s sets feature the musical growth of Mr. Carmack on his latest album, Viista plus amazing edits courtesy of King Most, Jon Reyes and Tall Black’s usage of a One Way sample to kick off the sets still blows me away. This song has been on repeat during my KCRW sets. Majid Jordan is best known to the pop world for their contribution to Drake’s Hold On, Were Going Home but they have been dropping gems for sometime on their sound cloud page. Their EP just dropped. Go cop it!

The amazing Sampha returns with another EP that was recorded in 2010. Pre SBTRKT and Drake, the EP is a look into crazy drums patterns, off key synths and church chords. I’m digging Rainstars and Kij but the rest are great as well. Purchase the new EP here. All proceeds to go Youth Cancer Trust.

New Sampha set to drop in January on Young Turks. You might have heard a glimpse of this cut on the new Drake on the hook. Looks like a 7 inch will also be available as a single but you can cop the digital release in a couple of weeks!  2013 could be the year of Sampha with that hug push via Drizzy. We shall see.

Played this on my radio show a couple of times (Clean version of course) and am really looking forward to actually sitting down and listening to this entire record.  The Weeknd always has this way of singing in such a dark manner of situations that would normally require excitement from others.  I’ve always appreciated that about him. It’s like success during a storm.  That Pharrell remix of Wanderlust is something special but this chorus has been on my mind often. Any time Drizzy + Weeknd team up I can expect something nice form the two.
