FERNANDO FALCAO
I’ve noticed I spent way too much time focusing on new artists and wanted to dig in the crates a bit. I came across this album last week and specifically this song which just hits all the vibes with the strings and children’s choir. Album artwork is super fresh too! Fernando is still alive and lives in homeland of Brazil. He lived in exile in Paris as a participant in activism against Brazil.
JAKOB OGAWA
22-year-old Norwegian Jakob Ogawa hits the spots with this single. Summer vibe for a Fall day is how I would describe this tone.
SUPER ELCADOS
This band hails from Nigeria and it spot on in it’s connection to 70’s JB sounds. Sadly the band only recorded 3 albums. Thanks for Mr. Bongo you can grab their sounds.
SAN SIMON
It was this cover of Stevie Wonder’s Golden Lady that first caught my attention. I thought this was an old recording only to find out it’s an active band out of New York formed in 2014 and blends soul with afro rican rhythms. More info here!
MAMA’S GUN
Takes guts to name your band off a Badu record but these gents from London nail some gritty soul. They have charted in Japan with a remix from Mitsu The Beats.
