This week we celebrate the posthumous Circles album by Mac Miller who was a big KCRW fan.  Circles finds the rapper transition into his Randy Newman (and sadly final) phase of journey with assistance from Jon Brion. Elsewhere Amsterdam’s Full Crate has a new single featuring Naomi Sharon plus Chassol out of Paris, Monsune, BK’s Theophilus London, Common gets remixed by Tom Misch and a new heater from Gothenberg’s sir WAS. We also highlight the sounds and connections between the recent passing of Jimmy Heath and NAS + DJ SHADOW. This weekend’s sets feature the musical growth of Mr. Carmack on his latest album, Viista plus amazing edits courtesy of King Most, Jon Reyes and Tall Black’s usage of a One Way sample to kick off the sets still blows me away. It’s been an adventure as you can probably tell via my instagram but one of the best experiences in 20 plus years as a dj/selector. Night One of our kick off at our weekly at the SLS Sayers Club in Vegas was quite the adventure. But the energy and madness during our performance was something else!!!! Big thanks to Jason Scoppa + the amazing staff at this unique and special venue! We were in the middle of the madness and I broke out the GOPRO and recorded a little something.  The adventures continue Friday and just about every night! Swing through! Say hello!

A new King Most edit tucked away in the first set and newness from Liam Bailey, Jose James, Sango, The Stepkids and much more. A big shout out Japanese label/record shop Jazzy Sport for sending me that new Grooveman Spot album entitled Super Natural. and drops in August! while I was doing my show. New newness from all over! Im digging this new Joey Bada$$ that dropped a few weeks back. Also big love to Kae (Italy), Christoff El Truento (New Zealand), Jazzy Sport (Japan) and GDNA out of LA for sending me some great work directly into my inbox. Also this new Skin Town record just dropped and played a couple cuts off the amazing album from the LA duo. Speaking of LA newness from Jo Def off the Soulection label and Souleance comes with it bringing some nice heat out of Paris. This new Arcade Fire is slowly growing on me. It’s a fun record and the lead single is definitely a banger with the tints of the James Murphy sound.  And peep the new Bosq track getting remixed by Tall Black Guy! ON MY MIND KING MOST

It’s been a good month for my band LOS GIRLS. We dropped our Ep on Plug Research, became Today’s Top Tune on Morning Becomes Eclectic and now we get a remix/refix/re-direction from one of our favorite dj’s!  King Most steps up to the plate with this up tempo heater which features Jason Joseph on vocals. You can hear this awesome podcast I did with Most or you can grab the original EP here.  Nick Rosen and I just kinda vibes, brought in a cello, guitar, bass, mpc, shakers kick drums and hit record on this project which we are super proud of.

I’m usually against have folks come through Monday nights into the basement. I like my zone. I like to set a zone but after having Max and Dean come out and help with the playlists it’s been smooth sailing!  These two are very helpful. And last night the universes were on my side when I got word SF dj/remixer/tastemaker/twitter funny man King Most was in the area.  Then I got an email from Budamunk, who is one of my favorite producers out of Japan and part of the Jazzy Sport collective, was in LA for a couple of weeks. I invited them both to swing through and hang out. Being that it was too last minute for guest dj sets, I asked that they bring some records and throw some gems and rarities onto their memory sticks and share some new sounds with our listeners.  3 hours of of heaters!!
