I came across this band at a day time music festival at the Bootleg in LA. I was on the bill and arrived a little early to explore the space. I heard something soulful whole entering one of the rooms and was curious. When I saw these guys and a gal on stage I was instantly in love. It definitely had that Soulqaurian vibe championed by the likes of D’Angelo, Questlove and Badu. I introduced myself after their set and asked for a cd. The very next night I threw it into rotation on my radio show and got positive feedback.  Also surprising was the co/signage from the likes of Tyler The Creator, Jill Scott and receiving a nice remix from Jazzy Jeff and James Poyser. Went into this session with a case of the Mondays. Over slept and was not as prepared as I wanted to be. But for the first time I figured this show would be a magic of the moment and it turned out to be a fun session. Broke out some of the vinyl towards the end of the set. Last night felt good! It was a crazy weekend and to just be able to hit the basement alone, dim the lights and play the music that I love felt good. Great day of music and meeting some of my favorites including Robert Raimon Roy and Moses Sumney. Got hip to LA transplants via Oregan, Moonwhild. Loved them so much I got their cd and played it on last night’s KCRW show. I love this venue! So great to see the Bootleg/Fold folks keep live music going strong in LA.  Peep the snapshots. Oh. and my guilty pleasure of Korean BBQ is also added in the snapshots. Sue me.

Sometimes before I leave to the basement I always wonder if I have enough heat in the record bag and 10 times out 10 I have way more then needed heat packed. Last night’s session was a testament to this. New Body Language, Tensei (unreleased), King Krule, Iaisu, OddISee, The Weeknd + heat from both Robert Raimon Roy and Moonchild who I saw earlier at the Bootleg Theatre.  Also honorable mentions include Yusef Lateef, Dexter Story, Billie Holiday X Toro Y Moi and much more!  Also how great is this Myron And E?
