Special De La Soul tribute in two parts!? Special post Valentine Sexy mix?! Levi Maestro drops knowledge?! All on one show. Man this one was full of fun in the basement this past Monday night! Big love to all who pledged and help me raise my goal of $1,000 in 3 hours after midnight.  You all got thanked name by name on air. Kicked things off with The Weekend covering Bey + new gems from Vic Mensa, Cashmere Cat, Tourist, a nice TRP remix. The TRP hail from London and Paris. Digging their work! Towards the end we travel to Columbia, Angola and Los Angeles via the new work from Chicano Batman. We close things out with some soul via Donny Hathaway and Sam Smith. Big up King Deluxe for passing this my way. I have played several cuts from Segilola on my show. Bambooman is behind the production and creates one of the of the coolest sounds!

I just recorded a session for Boston’s WBUR/Here and Now and included this version in my selections. I mean, how amazing and beautiful is this track stripped down and in an acoustic arrangement? The Disclosure version hits hard but this takes the holy cake. Sam Smith really does his thing on the chorus accompanied by the strings.

Cheryl captures the art of street photography and documents the various styles by folks with cameras. I think this might be my 4th post on her work. Peep below.

Went into this session with a case of the Mondays. Over slept and was not as prepared as I wanted to be. But for the first time I figured this show would be a magic of the moment and it turned out to be a fun session. Broke out some of the vinyl towards the end of the set. Apologies for the crackles and hisses from the vinyl but it still sounded great at 2 am! New gems from Isaiah Rashad, Takuya Kuroda w/ Jose James, Gilligan Moss out of Chi town and much more. Wheeew! Right before heading into the basement for this show I came straight from a gig in DTLA and recorded two podcasts along the way then went into the studio and it was my cool down time!
