New newness from all over! Im digging this new Joey Bada$$ that dropped a few weeks back. Also big love to Kae (Italy), Christoff El Truento (New Zealand), Jazzy Sport (Japan) and GDNA out of LA for sending me some great work directly into my inbox. Also this new Skin Town record just dropped and played a couple cuts off the amazing album from the LA duo. Speaking of LA newness from Jo Def off the Soulection label and Souleance comes with it bringing some nice heat out of Paris. This new Arcade Fire is slowly growing on me. It’s a fun record and the lead single is definitely a banger with the tints of the James Murphy sound.  And peep the new Bosq track getting remixed by Tall Black Guy! Thanks to Ubiquity for passing this my way at the very last minute!

Last time I saw these dudes at during their Morning Becomes Eclectic session. They had the entire station shaking and two stepping as they played some of new tunes fresh off their new Stonesthrow release. Im excited to play at this amazing venue as well.  I played w/ Davis Fetter a few times at Sayers and always lock his sound. I’m listening to new Stepkids music forthcoming on Stonesthrow and man!! This is some genius stuff! Funk, soul, synths, strings, off beat samples or something. I can’t quite make out what is going out on “Bitter Bug” but it’s possibly one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. The title track is a taste of Bowie meets super galactic boogie complete with bass pops. If you dig this track you need to check out the 4 on the floor remix by Yacht!  Sweet Salvation drops this spring as an LP!  I’m happy to see these guys hitting the road with Kimbra in a city near you!

I caught Homeboy Sandman at SXSW in 2010. I was hooked. By 2011 we linked up at the following SXSW and lots of great things had happened since. Now working on releases for Stonesthrow, this brother gets to showcase his unique rhyme patterns to a new audience.  His cadence and delivery are unlike any of contemporaries.  I sat with HBS last year and we discussed his content for his music. I was moved about him writing a song about the homeless. His content reminds me of that, of a great boxer who throws jabs and punches that connect. In HBS’s case, those japs and upper cuts are rhymes. Great videos below that break down his past, present and future.  Go google this brother and buy his product.
