Big thanks to FUSE for sending me to cover some of the historic musical landmarks across NOLA during the Voodoo Experience! I really got a first hand taste of the richness that makes New Orleans so unique. On my final day,  I decided to venture off into the Lower Ninth Ward. I talked to some of the locals to get a first hand account of what happened years prior. I was curious about the rebuilding. I left feeling moved by the spirit by the community. These are some of the snapshots taken on my Olympus and I Phone 6 Plus.  During my walk with the camera, I kept in mind that over 1,800 folks lost their lives during this rough time. I wanted to share with you first hand of what I felt through these series of shots.

This week’s guest on the podcast is illustrator, designer, street culture curator and all around bun celebrity Sophia Chang. Yes, it’s round two as we check in with Sophia and talk about her adjustment from NY to LA Life as well as her work ethics in balancing all these projects. She’s a bundle of joy and positive energy. Every Tuesday I like to spend some time on the computer and post up my KCRW playlist and then walk on over and grab coffee. So I head over to Menotti’s and grab an almond latte. Walking over there is always an adventure along the Venice Boardwalk. I get inspired by all those strangers who travel miles and miles to walk along the path that most locals take for granted. Anyhoo, today I broke out the iPhone and snapped some shots. Totally random!

If you follow me on Instagram odds are you know how much of an oddball and weirdo I am. It’s the place where I sometimes channel my inner 13 year old ands make fun little clips or catch life’s randomness with an I Phone. The past 6 months have been personally challenging, crazy, adventurous and amazing all in one for me. It’s been quite the adventurous day in the city. Sometimes I forget what goes on in this city with all the honking, the lack of fear in the cab driver, the folks walking with a purpose to their destination, the pigeon fearlessly in your way and so on. I did have a ball dropping a set last night on East Village Radio w/ Jon Oliver to promote my new album (which you can purchase here). Today I get to explore and work out of the New York RedBull office with some great projects I can’t wait to share with you. Peep yesterday’s snapshots!

Things are moving super fast! A little fast. I had this great talk with Levi Maestro last night about the concept of time. We recorded the chat for a future podcast but it’s really interesting how we put time into perspective. Anyhoo, when things get crazy I tend to break out the camera for some piece of mind. Can’t wait to see this movie! I have raved about it and the filmmaker Cheryl Dunn for months on this blog. I had the honor of chatting with her about her songs of inspirations a couple of years ago.  And now it seems as if the movie is out (well if your on the East coast). Once I get word that it will be playing here on the West coast I will let you know.  find out more info here.

Hanging with Cheryl and talking music was one of the inspirations behind me picking up the camera and exploring my neighborhood and also every where I travel.  Please support this movie when it comes to your area.

Next Thursday early evening I’m playing records at the Venice TOMS shop off Abbot Kinney. Looking forward to witnessing the art by Chase and checking out the new shoe line!  Sounds kick off at 6:30-8 pm!  Swing through and say hi!  Would love to see all my fellow Venice locals!  Make sure to RSVP!

I just stopped by this shop for some coffee and my oh my! Great community spot! Great selection of TOMS shoes and eye wear!! I took some shots with my iPhone which you can see below. Hope to see you this Thursday!

Yesterday I took my friend Nick through the backstreets and crevices of DTLA’s Fashion District then over to Chinatown for a bit with the camera in hand. Bumped into Tati and Lucas over at Grand Park for a cool hang session. Peep the snapshots!
