Day Three was a killer but worth it. We were able to shoot and hang with Little Dragon at the Huf House which was settled in a cute little Austin neighborhood. I had tons of questions so it was nice to actually learn some of those answers which will be aired on a future broadcast of NUVOtv’s The Collective! After we headed to the park to connect with the amazing Ana Tijoux for a chat about her new album, perspective on music and life and I must say that was super heavy and beautiful. Sitting there next to the river and listening to her drop knowledge about how motherhood has changed her life and how the media exploits culture for profit was refreshing to hear in the midst of all this corporate madness here. After dinner we swung through to the Belmont for the Redbull Soundselect party and caught Thurz kill it with a live band followed by my faves Denitia And Sene who somehow with their mellow soul flow rocked an OFWGKTA party! Earl Sweatshirt was next who was joined by Tyler The Creator and Taco and from there is was mayhem! Peep the pics.

My next album is set for March 18th on Plug Research! Here is the tracklist, artwork and featured guests on the new record. Obviously there are many many artists I would love to have collaborated but I’m happy with this bunch. These are artists who I respect and have featured either on my blog or radio show. You can pre order the record via I tunes  or pick up a copy via the kind folks at Daylight Curfew and pick up an ANTVALA shirt! Below is the album’s first single! I am looking forward to sharing these amazing songs with you that we recorded over the course of a year. I am proud of this record.

Finally grabbed Thurz aka Thurzday in the lab for a one on one. We discussed the process of the soundtrack of his life which will include his forthcoming project entitled Blood On The Canvas. Thurz first grabbed my attention as 1/2 of U-N-I which captured and reignited the buzz of the LA underground. We also discuss his inspiration for his last album entitled LA Riot. Thurz drops knowledge on the importance of communication with one another as well his experiences with working w/ Black Thought, Strong Arm Steady, BJ The Chicago Kid and friends. I found this chat to be very insightful in understanding his development as an artist and is existence as a young man growing up in Inglewood. Enjoy the chat and follow him on Twitter or stay posted to his soundcloud page for more goods!   Hope you dig!

Wheeew! What a Sunday it was at UCLA for the Jazz Reggae Fest. The temperature was just right as folks began to enter for the long haul of great artists such as Grouch and Eligh, Jhene Aiko, Common, Santigold and has.  I kicked things off with an obvious Roy Ayers classic to kick off the festival. My man Thurz held down mic duties.  This is one of my favorites spots to play records at. Folks seriously move to just about anything!  Special appreciation to the folks who made this all happen and of course all the great folks who came out and brought some great energy to this year’s show! I managed to get some great shots. Hope you dig!

Ro Blvd on the production killing this beat! Chris Gibbs of Union on the styling! Mr. Whitmore directing! And Krondon on the chorus! No wonder this has to be one of my favorite videos of the year. It’s refreshing to hear young LA emcee’s bring something new and creative to the game.  Cop the full length LA Riot here.
